Description
Σουρέλο, στενό παντελόνι από λευκό δίμιτο ύφασμα. Αποτελεί βασικό εξάρτημα της ανδρικής φορεσιάς του Πυργιού της Χίου, η οποία είναι γνωστή ως ποδιές ή ρασοζίπουνα. Πρόκειται για φορεσιά που επέζησε μέχρι και τις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα, η οποία είναι πιθανόν ν' απηχεί το μεσαιωνικό τύπο φορεσιάς των αγροτών ορισμένων νησιών του Αιγαίου. Στα υπόλοιπα χωριά της Χίου επικρατεί ο γνωστός τύπος της νησιωτικής φορεσιάς με βράκα. Το σουρέλο αποτελείται από δύο φύλλα που σχηματίζουν τα μπατζάκια. Ανάμεσά τους έχουν ραμμένο από ένα μεγάλο τριγωνικό φύλλο που κατεβαίνει περίπου ως το γόνατο, διευκολύνοντας έτσι το περπάτημα. Στη μέση του παντελονιού σχηματίζεται βρακοθηλιά μέσα από την οποία περνά κορδόνι. Οι άκρες του βγαίνουν και δένουν μπροστά.
