Description
Χαϊμαλί, τετράγωνο ασημένιο φυλαχτό δουλεμένο με σφυρήλατη τεχνική και ανάγλυφη διακόσμηση. Στη σφυρήλατη τεχνική οι τεχνίτες σχεδιάζουν πρώτα τα θέματα του διάκοσμου στην εσωτερική πλευρά και τα χτυπούν έπειτα με το καλέμι πάνω σε μια μάζα από πίσσα, για να προβάλλουν στην κύρια όψη ανάγλυφα, "φουσκωτά". Μέσα σ' αυτή τη θήκη με φυλακτικό προορισμό μπαίνουν κάθε λογής φυλακτικά αντικείμενα, όπως αγιοταφίτικα λουλούδια, τιμιόξυλο, φιδοκέρατο, κ.ά. Το συγκεκριμένο χαϊμαλί κρεμιέται από το λαιμό με μια διπλή ελαφριά και μακριά αλυσίδα, της οποίας οι άκρες στερεώνονται πάνω σε φλουροκαπνισμένη διάτρητη πλάκα που φέρει παράσταση δικέφαλου αητού. Στη μία όψη του απεικονίζεται ο Ιησούς να ευλογεί και στην άλλη, ο Άγιος Γεώργιος ο δρακοντοκτόνος. Από τη βάση του χαϊμαλιού εξαρτώνται κρεμασίδια από οδοντωτά
ελάσματα.
