Since its creation, the CMLE has organised a variety of themed exhibitions around regional Hellenic costume.
Some of the most typical examples to date have involved themes that approached costume as identity-defining for a region or for a ethno-cultural group. There have also been exhibitions based on the typology of the garments, their ritual use, or even their representation in art.
In recent years, the CMLE has gradually been growing into an increasingly open field for cultural meetings and the forging of new relationships. This has sometimes been by opening its doors to the world of art or even by turning to performative practices in interpreting material culture, and sometimes by extending its activity to online spaces.
At the same time, the CMLE’s exhibits often travel in Greece and around the world through touring exhibitions, or as part of temporary exhibitions organised by other bodies.
