"Women’s Greek regional costumes, inspired by the photographic archive of Emile Lester"

A tribute to the photographic archive of Emile Lester, who was active in Athens during the early decades of the 20th century.

In an attempt to review the social and aesthetic background of Greek regional female costume through the medium of chromophotography, Lester’s colourised photos of young Athenian women from the interwar period posing in Greek regional costumes are presented side by side with their corresponding outfits.
