The "lucky charm" of Lykeion ton Ellinidon for 2024, the "ghileki" of the Karagouna costume

The Lykeion ton Ellinidon’s 2024 lucky charm is dedicated to suffering Thessaly.

It is a brooch inspired by the waistcoat ("ghileki") of the women’s costume of Karagouna worn in the village of Megala Kalyvia in Trikala, depicting the characteristic embroidery technique of the terzides (craftsmen specialized in sewing and embroidering). The design was based on the waistcoat of the Costume Museum of Lykeion ton Ellinidon collection under Accession Number 3652/16.
