The present record in our series: "FOLK MUSIC - DANCES-SONGS", does not aim to present the traditional folk music and dances of any particular village or region, as was the case in our previous records in the same series, but a selection of twelve dance melodies from the various villages and from various parts of Greece.
Four among these melodies are dances of the Greek refugees from Eastern Rumelia. A record exclusively dedicated to this lost homeland, so rich in song and dances, is now in the process of preparation by the Lyceum Club of Greek Women. The items included here are but a small sample out of this rich store.
The recordings in this disc were made between the years 1967 and 1988, a number of them in Athens, but some, also, in the players' own villages. Certain of these items complement the material already presented in previous records (Naoussa LCGW 101, Karpathos LCGW 105).
